The Fourtrax 300 4×4 (TRX300FW) is an innovative high-performance quad produced by Honda between 1988 and 2000. It had a 282 cc air-cooled four-stroke single-cylinder engine and boasted impressive towing capabilities, 20 horsepower, and 45mph top speed.
It succeeded the TRX250X, a 240-cc sport model with an adjustable suspension and a five-speed transmission that made the Fourtrax well-known in 1986. This quad was known as the highest-grossing utility vehicle and came in two versions:
- The standard 2WD Honda FourTrax 300
- The 4WD Honda FourTrax 300 4×4

The Honda Fourtrax 300 was powered by a 282cc four-stroke, air-cooled SOHC engine. It had a bore of 74mm and stroke of 65.5 mm. the single-overhead-cam, the air-cooled motor used a solid-state, digital ignition with electronic advance, and a 32-mm piston-valve carburetor.
It had an engine displacement of 281.7 cubic centimeters enabled by a piston-valve carburetor and its 9:0:1 compression ratio. It had a 12.5 liters/ 3.3 US gallons fuel tank capacity (unleaded gasoline). Avoid gasoline with more than 5% methanol and 10% ethanol.
This quad has a solid-state digital ignition, an electronic advance, and a backup kick-starter hidden under the right-side panel. The Honda Fourtrax 300’s electrical system, airbox, and battery are placed under the seat.
The Fourtrax 300 is equipped with AT 504 Ohtsu AT23 X 8-11 Honda Fourtrax front tires and PA 501 Ohtsu AT25 X 12-9 rear tires. The tires have a recommended tire pressure of 2.9 psi.
The minimum pressure permitted when airing down tires is 2.5 psi, while the maximum pressure during summer is 3.3 psi. 0.16 inches/4 mm is the minimum tread depth that requires replacement.
The Fourtrax 300 has a five-speed transmission, including an extra-low first and reverse gear. It comes with a maintenance-free shaft drive and an automatic clutch.
